Le Centre du savoir sur mesure (CESAM) - What are the resiliency challenges for First Nations communities?

In the wake of the efforts made by Indigenious communities in disaster prevention and risk management a First Nations Symposium, will be held from May 23rd to May 25th, 2017 at the Château Laurier in Québec City (1220, Place George V Ouest). The symposium is open to Indigenous communities  stakeholders such as Health Directors, Band Council members, Emergency Managers, Tribal Council representatives as well as delegates from partner organizations.

Organized by the Centre du savoir sur mesure at the Univeristé du Québec à Chicoutimi, in collaboration with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) and First Nations and Inuit Health Brand (FNIHB) Québec region, the objectives of this symposium are to:

  • Provide a better understanding of existing and emerging risks;
  • Strength the governance of emergency risk management;
  • Improve preparedness for an effective response;
  • Increase community resilience.
