Lydia Ma—MSc, PhD
Lydia Ma joined the NCCEH as Manager while maintaining her role as Continuing Education Director in the UBC School of Population and Public Health (SPPH). Lydia holds a doctorate degree in Pathology and a master of science in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene from the University of British Columbia. Since joining UBC in 1998 with a mandate to create, develop, and implement a continuing professional education program in the former School of Environmental Health (merged into SPPH in mid-2011), Lydia has been offering a variety of professional development courses to more than 3,000 occupational, environmental, and public health professionals as well as practitioners in other disciplines such as engineers, planners, architects, and interior designers. She gives guest lectures and presentations to undergraduate students on occupational health and safety as well as to external organizations.
Lydia serves on the Board of Directors of the BC Environmental and Occupational Health Research Network (BCEOHRN), a volunteer-run board with overarching strategic goals of improving research capacity in British Columbia. BCEOHRN enables inter-institutional collaboration to develop innovative occupational and environmental health research, providing and facilitating province-wide knowledge transfer of research results.
